The reign of Robert II of Burgundy (1272-1306) marks a rupture within the Capetian duchy'sgovernment. The evolutions that feature his governance are deeply linked to the relations that unitehim to the kings contemporary to his reign such as Philip III the Bold and Philip IV the Fair.Showing signs of a flawless faithfulness, Robert II places himself close to these kings in order toreaffirm his authority and to fulfill his own ambitions.
